VISION

My dream is a BIG dream – it’s a God dream. I want to see "turning the tide in the lives of the poor" as a slogan, as a mantle of responsibility worn by those of us born to relative privilege in the Western world.

I want people to get hold of the concept that whoever they are, wherever they are – they can be part of a global change – to see the tide turned in the lives of people around them. Whether it is a child in Africa, a homeless beggar in America or an elderly neighbour in England. We all have a responsibility to help those who cannot help themselves.

Recently I wondered whether I should just make it easier for myself by going to work for some other large, established charity. I'd still be helping the very poor, but .... I'd know where my next dollar was coming from!

As I considered this, I realised how blessed I am to be part of this life, this work. God has given me a vision and I need to be faithful to Him. I have a big God who specializes in using the weak and the poor to bring great glory to his name. And that's me. Small, weak, imperfect, inadequate for the task. So perhaps He and I are a good fit. He's great, and if nothing else, I am willing.

Even if it was just one child Turn the Tide was helping, it would be worth it to me. But it's not. It's fifty!

And that's awesome.

I would be so honoured if you would join me in this service.
