Every cent raised for Turn The Tide goes to our child-headed households.
Founder, Michelle Timms is not employed by Turn the Tide and support herself with work as a project coordinator in South Africa. She visits Malawi, and the families, as often as possible.
ALL finances are handled directly and exclusively by Michelle's church in the U.K., Kings Church International.
All donations go through their finance office which is audited yearly by external auditors.
Each month King’s Church International transfers money into Turn the Tide's Malawi bank account. In order to withdraw the money there must be three signatories present.
Joseph Zulu is the financial manager who handles purchasing and distribution in Malawi. Each month, with the help of other board members, he orders and distributes food and necessities to our families. On a monthly basis, he completes a purchasing financial statement which is sent via email. Receipts are retained for all items and are checked against financial documents and bank statements.
No money is given to the families – only purchased items. School fees are paid directly to the schools.
Financial integrity is of utmost importance to Turn the Tide. While we are at the foundational stage of development, we have worked hard to create a transparent and accountable process.
