ABOUT MICHELLE
I'm Michelle! I am a Brit, living in Robertson, South Africa.
In February 2011 I left the UK for what I thought would be for just 6 months. My church in the UK has a sister church here in Robertson which for the past 6 years has developed a project which reaches vulnerable and underprivileged children from the townships and farms in this area. The children are bussed into the town and take part in a lively, fun Kids Church service. Each Sunday they are fed, loved and receive the word of God. We look out for their social, emotional and spiritual well being.
The first part of my 6 month trip was to be spent here, helping out with this project, and then I was going on to Malawi to establish Turn the Tide. However my arrival in South Africa coincided with the resignation of the Project Coordinator. I felt God speak very clearly to me about staying and continuing in that role. And that's what I do on a daily basis. I’m not teaching but am organising the million small things that need to be done to ensure the needy kids in this area are fed, clothed and cared for.
So, what was going to be 6 weeks is now two and a half years. I'm inbetween my greatest loves - Malawi where my heart is, and the UK, where my family is. Right now I am asking God to show me whether I should still be here, back in England or in Malawi – He will make it clear. But until He says go – I stay!
How often do I go to Malawi?
I have been three times now, and for about a month each time. But I am in weekly contact with people on the ground and drive things from where I am. I am hoping to take a group with me to Malawi in around April 2014 as many people have asked and are interested. Let me know if this includes you!
